Hughes acquires Helius IPTV

Hughes Network Systems has expanded its portfolio of enterprise offerings through the acquisition of Helius Business IPTV solutions, reports Earthtimes.

The expanded portfolio includes online training applications for enterprises of any size.

The Helius solutions will offer customers a platform for both Internet and broadcast-based e-learning.

PT, MTC unveil e-school programme

Portugal Telecom and cellular provider MTC will provide an information and communication package to Namibian primary schools and tertiary institutions, states allAfrica.

PT will donate 1 000 computers to 1 000 primary schools in Namibia and sell laptops at a subsidised price to the University of Namibia and the Polytechnic of Namibia, in a package worth N$10 million.

Zeinal Bava, CEO of Portugal Telecom, said MTC will start an e-schools programme in the country with an unmatched market offer of subsidising bundling of personal computers and mobile broadband.

Funds Network unveils training Web site

Fidelity Funds Network has unveiled a dedicated training Web site as part of its Platform for Learning programme, reports Ft adviser.

The Web site will operate as an information hub to complement face-to-face training and will offer online bookings for professional courses.

Further developments will include e-learning in 2009, with distance learning and pre-course and post-course testing.
