Debis contract a boon for DigiCore

DigiCore Holdings says its interim profits will be significantly higher than the corresponding period and the year to 30 June 2000.

The group, which develops and supplies service and fleet management systems for the transport industry, is expected to report next week on its performance in the six months to 31 December 2000.

DigiCore announced last year that the current financial year would be substantially better than the previous one as a result of a R150 million five-year contract to supply global positioning systems to Debis.

The 1999/2000 financial year was a dismal one for DigiCore, which reported a plunge in headline earnings from 10.1c a share to 0.46c a share, despite increasing turnover from R81.47 million to R97.27 million.

It says that the impact of the Debis contract, as well as expansion into overseas markets, have now made a significant contribution to profits.

"Management is confident that the company will deliver earnings significantly in excess of the 1999 financial year," it adds.

DigiCore`s share was trading 4c or 11.76% up at 38c on the JSE early this morning.
