Mustek to pay dividend

Johannesburg, 26 Aug 2004

Mustek says a slump in earnings for the year to 30 June is unlikely to affect its ability to pay a dividend.

The computer manufacturer says headline earnings per share for the period will be at least 30% lower than those of the previous year.

"The board of directors are of the opinion that the final results will not affect the company`s ability to declare and pay a final dividend of at least the same amount as the previous comparative period," it says in a trading statement issued last night.

Last year the company declared a total dividend of 25c, bringing the total dividend for the year to 50c.

That was after increasing headline earnings to 118.65c a share, from 88.88c a share the previous year.

The Mustek share, which rose by 5c or 0.7% to close at 765c yesterday, was trading at 755c after 7 800 shares changed hands in four deals early this morning.
