HP begins Print 2.0
Hewlett-Packard has introduced digital printing technologies aimed at expanding the company's presence in the graphics arts market, says InformationWeek.
The new technologies stem from what HP calls its Print 2.0 strategy, which aims to grab a bigger share of the growing digital printing business. HP offers consumer printers and online services, such as SnapFish, for printing photos taken with digital cameras, and also sells technology for commercial and industrial printing.
Among the new technology unveiled was the HP Inkjet Web Press, a high-speed colour digital printing platform. The HP Inkjet Web Press is capable of printing in full colour on rolls up to 30-inches wide at 400-feet per minute.
Digital frames increase
The PMA reports that the popularity of digital photo frames has almost doubled in the last year, says ZDNet.
According to the 2008 PMA US Digital Imaging survey, 11% of all US households owned a digital photo frame in 2007, up from only 6% in 2006.
They're also poised to be the world's fastest-growing application for small and medium displays in 2008, according to iSuppli.
Kyocera is rewarded
Kyocera multifunctional photocopy machines received a series of awards last year, the most notably being acknowledged for the Better Buys for Business Editor's Choice Award 2007, says Daily Mirror.
Better Buys for Business acknowledged the Kyocera FS-2000D, FS-4000DN and FS-9130DN.
In addition, Kyocera has also received recognition from Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories (BERTL). BERTL's Readers' Choice 2007 had 36 awards under 18 categories, of which Kyocera received five gold awards and two platinum awards.
