DivX, JVC partner
DivX, a digital media company, and JVC, a provider of home audio equipment, have unveiled the DivX Certification of a new Blu-ray home theatre system from JVC that will be available to consumers across Europe, starting this month, says Hexus.
The new DivX Certified system, the NX-BD3, is JVC's first entry into the Blu-ray market and is capable of playing back high-quality DivX video, providing consumers with a comprehensive approach to premium home entertainment.
The NX-BD3 is built around the world's first DLNA Certified (Digital Living Network Alliance) Blu-ray theatre system, which allows consumers to seamlessly play back content over wired or wireless home networks, bringing libraries of video stored on the PC to the living room.
Colombia goes with DVB-T
Colombia's National Television Commission, La Comisi'on Nacional De Televisi'on (CNTV) has made a historic decision on the choice of DVB-T as the digital terrestrial television standard for Colombia, states Broadcast Buyer.
The decision to adopt DVB-T was taken after more than two years of in-depth analysis and rigorous testing of all the world's digital television standards: ATSC developed by the United States, Japan's ISDB-T, China's DMB-T/H and DVB-T.
Maria Carolina Hoyos Turbay, director of the CNTV, says: "This decision shows that Colombia is looking to the future and ensuring that Colombians will benefit from higher quality television for the next 30 years."
ISTD selects BCI
BCI, a Jordanian advanced communications and technology company, has completed the implementation of a large-scale Polycom video conferencing project for the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), which covers the department's headquarters and 17 directorates across the Kingdom, reports AMEInfo.
The video conferencing system will enable members of the team at the ISTD to communicate, interact and collaborate more effectively with one another across the Kingdom via video, resulting in a real-life visual communications experience.
Musa Al Tarawneh, media spokesperson at the ISTD, states: "ISTD deployed the video-conferencing solution from BCI as part of its efforts to prioritise and adopt the e-government approach and requirements."
