Bytes Document Solutions launches cost-effective Xerox MFPs, printer range

Johannesburg, 06 Feb 2009

Bytes Document Solutions, Xerox distributor to 24 African countries, has launched two new low-cost multifunction printers (MFPs) and one laser printer into the South African market.

The new offering includes the Xerox Phaser 3100MFP multifunction printer and the Xerox Phaser 3635MFP multifunction printer, devices that print, copy, scan and fax and the Phaser 3250 monochrome laser printer.

"Businesses today must do more for less," says Ernest Leong, product manager, Office Systems Group at Bytes Document Solutions. "That's a challenge, particularly when times are tough, as businesses must invest in order to grow and is the reason why we have brought these specific models to the local market. They meet the needs of multiple users across Africa, providing a diverse range of features and business functions for the best possible cost so that organisations can maximise their ongoing value."

Xerox has combined ease of use, reliability and low-cost to build the Phaser 3100MFP. The system, Xerox's lowest-priced MFP, makes office work easy with print speeds up to 20ppm and features such as scan to e-mail, a full keyboard for the fax directory, and optical character recognition (OCR) software that converts scanned documents into text-searchable files. The Phaser 3100MFP is also available with a USB wireless network adapter, which provides wireless connectivity, and a digital cordless telephone, which allows phone and fax to be used at the same time.

The new Xerox Phaser 3635MFP offers more features and is a 33ppm networked system that includes advanced security options such as image overwriting, encryption and authentication tools. The A4 desktop multifunction device allows workgroups to print and copy in black and white at 33ppm, and to scan and fax in colour. It has the latest scanning technology, networking, security, and a large, full-colour touch-screen control panel. For the first time Xerox's award-winning user interface, typically found on larger A3 devices, has been put to use on an A4 system. This means the Phaser 3635MFP also supports a variety of applications from third-party solution providers such as Equitrac in accounting, Omtool in faxing, and Nuance and X-Solutions in scanning.

For individual users or small workgroups, the Xerox Phaser 3250 laser printer is small in size but rich with features, including automatic two-sided printing and the ability to print up to 28ppm. It also includes a network-ready version, packing many features into a small footprint.

Recycling

The Phaser 3100MFP, Phaser 3635MFP, and Phaser 3250 are part of Xerox's Green World Alliance. The Xerox Green World Alliance is a worldwide initiative to encourage customers large and small to recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimises impact to the environment. This partnership with customers has resulted in more than 2.7 million cartridges and toner containers being returned in 2006. Xerox processed 550 000kg of post-consumer waste toner for re-use, and the plastic bottles customers used to return waste toner to Xerox, nearly 100 000 of them, have been recycled.
