Computron Software, Inc, a leading global provider of the e-Cellerator line of Internet commerce solutions, today announced that its e-Cellerator solutions have been deployed by three city councils across Australia to enable information sharing using the Internet. The councils of the city of Yarra, near Melbourne; the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council; and the City of Greater Dandenong, in Victoria, are utilising Computron`s suite of e-Cellerator solutions as part of strategic initiatives to upgrade their municipal information systems.
"Eleven councils throughout Australia have now accessed the Computron solutions to enhance their information systems, and bring their municipalities into the 21st century," said Ossie Pisanu, Vice President of Computron`s Asia Pacific operations. "The latest installations in Yarra, the Mornington Peninsula, and Greater Dandenong reinforce Computron`s recent ranking as the number one vendor in Strategic Research`s 2000 e-Commerce and Enterprise Application study of Australian CFOs."
The City of Yarra
The City of Yarra, an inner urban municipality of 66,000 people near Melbourne, recently launched an Information Systems Strategic Plan, designed to upgrade the Council`s internal systems with YARRA 2000, a series of best-of-breed solutions to improve information access for all activities. YARRA 2000 comprises an integrated suite of software packages and systems, including Computron`s e-Cellerator solutions.
"Computron`s financial management systems allow us to streamline the entry, reporting, and management of critical financial data, offering improved control and accountability," explained the Council`s Chief Financial Officer, Michael Sedgman. "Specifically, Computron`s TCR2000 Tax Compliance and Reporting solution will help us manage our New Tax System, collating and calculating information from our various HR, payroll and financial systems for complete audit and reporting capabilities."
Computron is also managing the YARRA 2000 implementation to ensure a fully integrated solution for all of the Council`s systems.
Mornington Peninsula Shire & the City of Greater Dandenong
Like the City of Yarra, the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and the City of Greater Dandenong are utilising Computron`s solutions as part of a massive overhaul of their local government computer systems. Both city councils selected Computron to significantly enhance their existing business processes, provide full GST support, and support future e-commerce initiatives.
"We selected Computron as part of our commitment to implement leading-edge technology that can improve the standard of care we provide to the Mornington Peninsula and its diverse communities," said Brandon Cheshire, the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council`s Manager of Information Technology and Telecommunications. "The Computron solution will improve our ability to access critical data to better support forward planning and management controls. The solutions` e-commerce capabilities will also enable us to become an active player in the new Internet economy."
