Lorge develops SAP Business One ERP software solution for M&J Engineering

Johannesburg, 24 Apr 2007

The significant benefits to be derived from integrating manufacturing, project and job costing, service management, stock and material requirements planning (MRP) into back-end accounting software, have led to Wadeville-based M&J Engineering contracting mid-market business and technology solutions provider Lorge to supply, develop and implement an SAP Business One accounting and financial software solution.

A supplier of tailor-made, fit-for-purpose systems for the mining and bulk materials handling industries, M&J Engineering specialises in systems that assist the flow of irregularly shaped bulk solids, including a wide variety of metal ores, precious metals, diamonds, coal, coke, sinter, manganese, Kimberlite and Ferro-phosphates.

M&J Engineering is the sole representative of the patented WEBA Chute System to the South African and African market and provides a turnkey solution including sales, custom 3D CAD designs, fabrication, installation and after-sales customer service.

Products include the award-winning Weba transfer chute, a range of feeders and breakers, belt conveying systems and surge bunker feeders.

"The full integration of financial, manufacturing, project and job costing, materials requirements planning, warehousing, stock control and customer relationship management is critical to the ongoing growth and expansion of M&J Engineering," said Alex Viviers of Lorge corporate sales.

"SAP Business One provides a real-time, ERP system to streamline the complex processes integral to successfully implementing, managing and controlling very large materials handling projects."

M&J Engineering`s patented Weba chute overcomes many of the disadvantages of conventional designs, such as unwanted fines generation, excessive wear, noise, spillage and blockages. Almost 2 000 custom-designed Weba transfer chutes have been installed in , handling 640 million tons of ores and other materials every month.

The SAP Business One solution is a networked 20-user system that is now being implemented by Lorge. M&J Engineering staff is also being trained by Lorge, which will provide ongoing system support and services. The software is expected to go live in mid-May.
