Converged voice-video- networks and next-generation services provider NetCentrex and systems integrator Giza Systems yesterday announced a partnership to provide voice over Protocol (VOIP) services in Egypt.

Giza Systems will distribute, integrate and support NetCentrex Business Services and MyCall Residential Communications.

The NetCentrex-Giza Systems partnership agreement opens new technologies to the rapidly developing Egyptian communications market. Industry players say VOIP is an ideal solution to the technical and geographical difficulties faced by operators and service providers in areas such as Africa and the Middle East. Voice and video services can be developed cheaply through the convergence of voice, video and data traffic over a single IP network.

"The partnership will make our solutions widely available in Egypt and ensure integration and support for all deployments," says NetCentrex account director Ahmed Bouna. "Giza Systems` expertise in advanced communications and information systems will enable customers to migrate smoothly and easily to converged networks and find real cost savings through IP services."

Giza engineers have been trained on NetCentrex solutions and technologies, enabling them to provide installation and support services for IP Centrex, voice VPN, business trunking and residential broadband voice and video communications services.

Giza engineering director Mohamed Sedeek says the recent deregulation in the area, coupled with worldwide telecom convergence, has created a need for systems integrators that are "well versed in both traditional telecom business and the rising technology of IP and NGN, to enable service providers to smoothly migrate and adapt to this massive paradigm shift".
