Uncapped ADSL - but for business only

Johannesburg, 20 Jul 2005

Local Internet service providers MWEB Business and MTN Network Solutions have launched uncapped ADSL offerings - but both are aimed at business only.

MWEB Business, the division of MWEB focusing on specialised Internet for businesses, today launched its Business ADSL offering, which provides businesses with an always-on Internet connection without any traffic limitations, at a fixed monthly rate of R1 350.

Gary Hart, manager of marketing and products at MWEB Business, says that in the past, MWEB Business` customers were subject to monthly download limits of between 3GB and 9GB.

The new offering is aimed mainly at small and medium enterprises and is uncapped as long as it is used for business purposes.

Hart points out that, contractually, clients are bound to "fair" common business usage. Should a client exceed the average bandwidth for fair business use, MWEB Business has the right to investigate.

"If it is found that the average usage was exceeded for non-business purposes, such as someone downloading music all day, then we have the right to suspend the ADSL service. However, if the average is exceeded under fair business usage, we will take the knock."

Also launching today is MTN Network Solutions` ADSL Internet Access Package targeted at the small office/home office (SOHO) market. The package is uncapped at a fixed monthly rate of R1 950.

The uncapped ADSL offering was one of four new networking products for the SOHO launched by MTN Network Solutions today.
