MWEB drops ADSL prices

Johannesburg, 01 Jun 2007

South Africa's leading Internet Service Provider has cut its ADSL prices by up to 23%, and is offering customers an all-inclusive option, including line rental and Internet subscription on one bill, as well as a free modem and the option of a month-to-month subscription.

MWEB is offering a 384kbps ADSL line with a 1GB data cap for R299 per month, down 23% from R390. Larger data cap options of 2GB and 3GB are also available at R379 and R469 respectively.

Rudi Jansen, CEO of MWEB, said following the launch of the self-install option for ADSL lines, it was now possible for MWEB to own the ADSL installation process and the billing procedures for the line itself.

"For the first time, we are also offering customers an account with one bill from MWEB, a "no contract" option, as well as a free network-locked Billion ADSL VOIP router. Usually free modems are linked to a 24-month contract, but MWEB will also offer customers the option of a month-by-month subscription.

"The current broadband market is competitive, which can only mean cost benefit to home and business customers. We are confident this is one of the best offers in the marketplace for ADSL. What's more, customers will not have to deal with the network provider at all, as MWEB will handle the entire process, from application to set-up. Customers are also tired of being locked into lengthy contracts and the benefit of no lock-ins will be very attractive."

MWEB's offer applies to new ADSL line applications on existing phone lines and is subject to a line quality test.
