VOIP client software available

Motricity Germany and Optimobile have released Optimobile`s VOIP client software UniPhone, reports SymbianOne.

The ability to make Internet telephony calls is subject to the end-user having access to a WLAN broadband connection and a subscription with a relevant provider of IP telephony services.

UniPhone follows the SIP-standard and uses the WLAN radio interface for wireless calls over broadband.

Irish SMEs adopt VOIP

Sixty percent of Irish small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) plan to invest in VOIP technology in the next six months, reports Silicon Republic.

According to communications technology firm Cisco`s own research, there is demand for the new technology.

"We are currently experiencing solid demand from SMEs, particularly around our unified communications portfolio," said Cisco country manager Michael Galvin.
