ITT chooses RTS 2.0

ITT has selected the Sun Java Real-Time System 2.0 (Java RTS) and the Solaris 10 Operating System as the software development platform for its Eglin Control and Signal Processing Upgrade programme, says TradingMarkets.com.

The Eglin Space Surveillance Radar, which schedules and tracks catalogued space objects, is undergoing a complex modernisation process to replace legacy mission-critical components built from one-of-a-kind equipment and custom software.

Java RTS will enable ITT to run the new solution using Java technology on Solaris 10 OS and standard hardware.

Java, .NET team up

Java and Microsoft .NET are working together in a SOA-based customer relationship management (CRM) application at Germany's Deutsche Post AG, reports SearchSOA.com.

The SOA implementation at Deutsche Post was written in Java with Java APIs, explains Steven Engelhard, integration expert in the technical system architecture division of the company, which is the parent of the DHL package delivery service and now operates under the trade name "Deutsche Post World Net".

The need to integrate .NET applications into the Java-based CRM system caused Engelhard to look for a way to get the two environments to work as one. This was required to get key customer information such as addresses, crucial to a logistics company, from internal service providers using .NET into the Java CRM application.

Intertech unveils iBATIS

Intertech has released iBATIS training to support growing use of the open source data mapper, states The Earth Times.

The goal of iBATIS is to "provide 80% of JDBC functionality using only 20% of the code," said Intertech founder and CEO Tom Salonek.

James White, Intertech partner and instructor, led the development of this course. White is the co-author of Java 2 Micro Edition by Manning, a JavaOne speaker, and an ongoing contributor to DevX.com.
