Sipgate opens up iPhone to VOIP

Sipgate has made available a free application for the iPhone that allows consumers to natively use any VOIP service which uses the industry-standard SIP, says Pressemeldungen.at.

Consumers can use their iPhones to make and receive VOIP calls from their devices over a WiFi Internet connection using a wide variety of VOIP providers.

The Sipgate service, which is available from the company's Web site, enables users to dial any number without using minutes from a wireless plan.

ATSI enhances global VOIP offering

ATSI Communications has signed an international agreement with a European telecommunications carrier that will allow the local company to offer a voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service with global coverage, states Bizjournals.

The identity of the European carrier was not disclosed.

The service will be offered by San Antonio-based ATSI's Digerati Networks subsidiary. The company developed the new Digerati Platinum service with worldwide coverage specifically for service providers serving the consumer or enterprise market.

Neovia, Trellis partner

Brazilian connectivity solutions provider Trellis is teaming up with domestic wireless broadband provider Neovia to provide small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with an end-to-end solution for Internet access and VOIP services, states Telegeography.

In a joint statement, the two firms said the initiative would bring together Neovia's broadband Internet access capabilities with Trellis' hIPer VOIP system.

As a result of the tie-up, the pair aims to offer SMBs a cheaper VOIP alternative than is currently available.
