TruPhone, 8x8 support iPhone

Two US VOIP companies, TruPhone and 8x8, have announced support for the iPhone, allowing users to make calls through WiFi hotspots, states MacNN.

Truphone says its VOIP application acts just like the regular iPhone dialler, except that calls are made through the Internet at what it claims are "incredible low rates".

8x8 has added the iPhone device to a list of over 450 handsets supported by its VOIP service. Unlike Truphone, the company's Packet 8 service uses a Web-based interface, so there is no dialler to download.

Telanetix unveils VOIP for SMEs

Videoconferencing and IP telephony vendor Telanetix has unveiled a new small-business VOIP service through warehouse retailer Costco Wholesale, says Channel Web.

Washington-based Telanetix's AccessLine division is offering the AccessLine Digital Phone Service, a package that includes phones and phone service.

Targeted at businesses with five or fewer employees, the service supports local, long-distance and international calling and includes features such as fax mailboxes and automated attendant functionality.

Citrix integrates VOIP, audio conferencing

Free VOIP and audio conferencing for both Mac and PC are now integrated to deliver a seamless, high-quality experience with the newest releases of Citrix GoToMeeting and Citrix GoToWebinar from Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, reports Market Watch.

This combination of VOIP, phone and Web conferencing for small-group online meetings and large-group Web events makes one-click meetings possible.

"Having both VOIP and phone connectivity options will encourage more attendees at our weekly marketing seminars," says John Lane, founder and owner of TaxSaleLists.com.
