MS, Quintum partner

Quintum Technologies, a provider of VOIP technologies and a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies has, under an agreement with Microsoft, developed a VOIP T1/E1/PRI gateway and an FXS gateway for digital phone systems that use Microsoft's Response Point phone system software, states Market Watch.

Response Point offers small and medium businesses the ability to deploy VOIP throughout their networks with IP PBX telephony advantages usually enjoyed only by larger enterprises.

These features include SIP trunking, click-to-call functionality for contacts using the Assistant software, call detail records, and the ability to select music for parked calls and hold time.

GotVoice, IPiphany release SME offering

GotVoice, the voice messaging company, together with IPiphany, a provider of voice and data solutions for businesses, have released a voicemail-to-text service for small and medium-sized enterprises, reports Market Watch.

The co-branded offering is built on GotVoice business-class technology and is available immediately to IPiphany's users.

The new IPiphany service, based on GotVoice's G2 voice transformation technology, converts voicemail into text and delivers messages to users' e-mail inboxes, making it easy to digest voicemail at a glance and archive messages for easy search and retrieval.

VOIP development promoted in Thailand

Locally developed VOIP software development is being promoted to reduce Thailand's heavily reliance on imports, says Bangkok Post.

The research and development arm of the National Telecommunications Commission has made the project part of an industry master plan with an ultimate goal to export technology developed in Thailand.

VOIP technology provides a new business opportunity for Thai companies to develop compatible software on an open source platform, said Supot Tiarawut, a director of the Telecommunications Research and Industrial Development Institute.
