MWEB Business delivers even faster uncapped ADSL at affordable price

Johannesburg, 08 Oct 2010

MWEB Business has extended its Business ADSL offerings with the launch of an uncapped, unshaped 10Mbps option, which like its earlier uncapped Business ADSL offerings, comes to market at an extremely competitive price.

This latest offering makes it affordable for businesses to achieve high speed, high quality large file downloads, and can also be used for voice over Internet calls (VOIP) over MWEB's carrier-class, next-generation IP network - all backed by a range of value-added services and 24/7 technical support.

Bernard Kur, Head of Product Management and Development at MWEB Business, says the lack of well-priced, generously provisioned bandwidth has long been a source of frustration in the local business environment, particularly for business owners who have not been able to take full advantage of the technical and economic opportunities that affordable broadband access provides.

“Because MWEB now provides Internet access on its own network with its own international bandwidth provisioned through Seacom, we can compete with traditional telcos and bring affordable, high quality, uncapped, fully supported Internet access within reach of most businesses,” he explains.

MWEB has invested a great deal into the development of its network, engineering it to world-class standards. The network uses best-of-breed equipment and best practice design principles and is interconnected to the Internet via multi-Gigabit redundant fibre paths to various national and international upstream providers.

The launch of the latest 10Mbps option brings to four the number of uncapped, unshaped Business ADSL offerings provided by MWEB Business. The other options include 384kbps, 512kbps, and 4Mbps services.

Should a customer require anything faster, this can be catered for using leased lines or bonded ADSL products.

All the Business ADSL services from MWEB Business are also available on a Business ADSL with 3G failover offering (using a Billion router). This allows a business to remain connected should an outage occur on the fixed ADSL line, by seamlessly failing over to a 3G connection and failing back to ADSL when the line is restored.

Additional value adds of the new 10Mbps Uncapped ADSL offering include:

* Five fixed IP addresses, enabling businesses to host servers and deploy a VPN connection
* A low contention ratio (limited number of users on the line at any one time)
* Use of a configured business class Cisco router worth R3 999, for new customers signing a 12-month contract
* Unshaped bandwidth (no prioritisation of certain types of traffic)
* Notification of downtime
* Three hundred free WiFi minutes
* 2GB mailbox
* MRTG graphs
* Fax to e-mail account
* SMTP relaying to enable businesses to relay their mail regardless of where their mail server is housed
* 24x7 support on the entire Business Uncapped Service, including Telkom ADSL line escalations and remote/onsite engineering support
