Products boost Cisco shares

Cisco shares have been boosted by the prospects of its new products, services and regions, says Chicago Tribune.

The firm spent several years streamlining operations and improving inventory controls, while spending generously on research and development.

Earnings rose 37% in its recent quarter on a 17% increase in revenue.

Networking cuts costs

By networking office technology, including printers, companies can share resources and save on costs, reports CNN Money.

"Through a network, a small business can simply install one printer to be shared across multiple workstations," said Marty Canning, Lexmark VP and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. "This helps cut down on costs associated with purchasing and servicing multiple machines, allowing small businesses to streamline processes and increase productivity."

Networking provides a mode for computers to communicate between each other as well as with printers and other hardware.

Cisco Academy celebrates

Cisco Vietnam marked the 10th anniversary of the Cisco Networking Academy programme with a celebration in Hanoi, states CNN Money.

Participating in the event were representatives from regional and local networking academies, Cisco channel partners, universities, colleges and high schools nationwide, and the media.

The Networking Academy is a comprehensive programme that provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy delivers Web-based content, online assessments, student-performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry-standard certifications.
