Gilat walks away from merger

Gilat Satellite Networks, a provider of satellite networking technology, solutions and services, has terminated the merger agreement with a consortium of buyers, says Trading Markets.

The company said it has notified the consortium of buyers that had agreed to purchase Gilat that it was terminating the agreement and plan of merger entered into on 31 March 2008.

According to Gilat, the termination of the agreement was a result of the buyers intentional breach of the merger agreement and failure to close the merger transaction prior to 17:00 New York time on 28 August 2008, the extended time established to complete the transaction.

Singapore Flyer selects Datacraft

Datacraft, an independent IT solutions and services company, has implemented a wireless LAN solution for the Singapore Flyer, the world's tallest observation wheel, which enables passengers to enjoy continuous audio and video entertainment during their 30-minute ride, reports FPRC.

The implementation of wireless switches and access points by Datacraft in the project enables up to 784 passengers in all the 28 air-conditioned capsules to view and listen to information and entertainment broadcasts, while the wheel is in motion.

"I am glad we were successful in undertaking this unique challenge as it would be an excellent reference site for such future projects," says Hidetaka Kai, GM for Datacraft Japan.
