Network Platforms implements ADSL Radius

Johannesburg, 20 May 2009

Network Platforms has implemented its own Radius Server. According to MD Bradley Love, the functionality is unique, whereby it allows DNS updates every time an ADSL connection is established. This enables virtual private networks to connect without the aid of a Dynamic DNS. There are a few advantages to this, namely:

* No DDNS updates via International links
* “Local only” ADSL accounts
* More stable VPN connection
* More control over customers' Internet ADSL connection
* Better ADSL pricing on bandwidth

The system also offers virtual Internet service providers the ability to resell ADSL bandwidth on a usage basis. Resellers are supplied their own branded portal which allows them to structure and manage accounts as required. Resellers can also register their own realms, which enables complete rebranding.

We have also developed our system so as to integrate it into any payment gateway. When customers top up or sign up, the payments are made via your gateway into your bank account.

Your customers can also manage their account via your client portal, allowing customers to top up their accounts as required. Notification thresholds can be set, and should a customer reach their cap, they will have the ability to top up their account via your portal.

Another unique functionality when setting up VPNs is that you no longer require Dynamic DNS. We have implemented what we call 'magic DNS'. This allows you to run 'local only' accounts without having to set up DDNS.

ACS Server for ADSL management

We have set up an ACS Server at our data centre. ACS is a management system developed by DrayTek. ACS uses a protocol called TR-069 which was developed for DSL. Traditionally you would use SNMP. The ACS Server allows us to add your routers to the server under your profile. Once added, the configuration of the router is backed up to the ACS server. If a configuration change is made, the configuration file is sent to the ACS server. You can log on to your profile and view your devices. The other advantage is that if the site is down, the system has built-in e-mail notification. So you will know the site is down before your customer calls.

If a user does a factory reset, the router will query the ACS server for its last configuration and load it onto the router. As TR-069 is an industry standard, you can also use it to manage other brands provided they support TR-069. Another neat feature is the integrated Google maps, which allows you to create VPNs between your devices by dragging your mouse from one office to another.

Dealer realms imbedded onto DrayTek routers

As a reseller, we will imbed your ADSL realm into the DrayTek routers so that your customers can't use your router with any other ISP.

This protects you if you're supplying your router on a contract. For more information, please go to the following URL: http://www.bandwidthbar.co.za.
