AfricaSD announces unique workstation-less anti-virus licensing for Linux, Novell

Johannesburg, 12 Aug 2004

AfricaSD, total e-security solution distributor, is now offering an anti-virus with long-awaited support for organisations with Linux and Novell infrastructures.

In the current reality of the "Windows World", organisations that have invested heavily in Linux and Novell have often been neglected by major vendors not able to offer compatible software technology.

Authentium Anti-virus, distributed by AfricaSD, is not only compatible with Novell and Linux users but also has an anti-virus plug-in for Linux and Novell e-mail systems, as well as a server-based licensing structure that requires no licensing of workstations.

"AfricaSD is giving Linux, Unix and Novell users the ability to purchase a cost-effective anti-virus server licence instead of a workstation licensing structure. This could mean big savings for a lot of companies out there," says AfricaSD`s Business Development Manager Monique de Klerk.

"We also have a plug-in, called Authentium Interceptor, for Linux and Novell e-mail systems at special prices," says De Klerk.

Authentium Interceptor is an anti-virus plug-in for Novell Netmail and the following Linux e-mail systems: Sendmail, Post Fix, Qmin, Qmail, etc.

AfricaSD will have an introductory offer on Authentium Interceptor for the next 30 days, ending 13 September 2004, which includes the anti-virus software, free updates and products upgrades, all at 10% off the regular price.

Authentium Anti-virus is a quality award-winning anti-virus, one of three anti-virus products worldwide to be certified by Virus Bulletin, West Coast Labs and ICSA Labs.

An anti-virus product is not the only requirement for a good anti-virus solution, says AfricaSD. According to data from the FBI and Carnegie Mellon University, more than 90% of all security breaches involve a software vulnerability caused by a missing patch that the IT department already knows about. Even the SQL Slammer worm, which caused IT managers across the globe plenty of headaches, could have been avoided if a patch that was available six months earlier had been applied.

"In order to achieve a good platform in security against viruses and worms, it is vital to have in place an excellent anti-virus solution as well as an IT environment that is up-to-date with the latest patch fixes that have been released. We offer both an anti-virus solution and a patching solution in a bundle at discounted prices," says De Klerk.
