BMC boosts BSM range

At its UserWorld event in Prague this week, BMC Software introduced several new and enhanced business service management (BSM) solutions for IT operations.

According to Bob Beauchamp, BMC's CEO, the company's solutions feature integration that addresses service responsiveness, service quality and service cost.

"BSM for IT operations allows BSM applications to fit together in an event management workflow to identify IT glitches, prioritise them and inform IT operations what is needed to address and solve them."

Jim Grant, senior VP and GM of BMC's enterprise service management business unit, says companies are fed up with spending so much of their budget to just keep things running, and are looking for BSM solutions that are pre-integrated, easy to implement and provide immediate cost savings and business benefits.

"HP, IBM and CA are still offering a completely fragmented array of products that don't resolve this critical business need," says Grant. "With BMC's comprehensive BSM solutions for IT operations, applications automatically link and work together as pre-integrated components are deployed."

He says the new solutions for IT operations support infrastructure, application, capacity and transaction management through a complete set of new and expanded products, which integrate with the company's Configuration Management Database and map to the IT Infrastructure Library.

BMC's new products include BMC Transaction Management Root Cause Analysis, BMC Performance Assurance/Performance Exception Detector and CMDB support: BMC Performance Manager, BMC Performance Assurance.

The company has also released new versions of BMC Performance Manager, Performance Assurance and Transaction Management Application Response Time. It has also enhanced its Event Manager, Service Level Management and Service Impact Manager solutions.
