BI spending handbook released

Research and Markets has added US IT Spending on Business Intelligence to 2012 Pharmaceutical Technology (Databook) to its offering, according to Business Wire.

Although BI in the earlier stages of drug development remains an emergent solution area in the pharmaceutical market, contextual forces such as pipeline productivity pressures and growing generic competition will drive increased spending on BI in the near future.

This title identifies potential growth areas for technology in the pharmaceutical market in the US, quantifies spending on BI solutions by pharmaceutical segments in the US, and segments IT spending by technology and end-user group.

BI embraces social networking

Bravadosoft CEO and co-founder Matt Culbreth says user provided content has created billions in market value for companies such as eBay, MySpace and Facebook. However, in traditional business intelligence software, users are not empowered, reports Tech Journal.

Bravadosoft connects companies to their suppliers and customers for collaboration with social networking tools, such as rating the usefulness of information.

The company, self-funded by its three co-founders, Culbreth, David Daughtrey and Mark Jones, is seeking $500 000 in seed-funding.

Business Objects adds SPSS

Business Objects and SPSS have entered into an original equipment manufacturer agreement in which Business Objects will offer its customers the ability to use SPSS predictive analytics data mining technology as part of the BusinessObjects XI platform, explains Web Wire.

Predictive analytics technology helps individuals explore past and present business scenarios, as well as uncover trends and identify outliers, to project future outcomes.

"Business Objects has been a pioneer in delivering business intelligence to all users within the organisation so they can gain accurate and timely insight and make informed decisions quickly," said Juliette Sultan, VP of Information Discovery and Delivery at Business Objects.
