McAfee integrates threat protection

Johannesburg, 30 Jun 2009

McAfee has unveiled its Total Protection for Internet Gateways, which integrates Web and e-mail protection with network data loss prevention (DLP), to be deployed on McAfee appliances.

Jayson O'Reilly, McAfee regional manager for Africa, says: "We're providing customers with an all-in-one solution for inbound and outbound policy enforcement and threat protection."

The security solutions giant said in a media statement that the software bundle will deliver Web, mail and DLP at a price point usually associated with Web security by itself.

The McAfee Total Protection for Internet Gateways solutions will be integrated with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) software, McAfee's centralised security management console.

The ePO software provides visibility into malware blocked, enterprise Web filtering, Web traffic volume by protocol (http, https and ftp) and data loss policy alerts. Users can deploy the appliance user interfaces through ePO software in order to configure policies.

According to McAfee, enterprises are looking for security software that enables productivity and security at a decreased total cost of ownership.

McAfee says the solution will help companies with their regulatory compliance concerns and provide them with low total cost of ownership for Web 2.0 threat protection.
