MTN, I-Net Bridge and the Sunday Times are offering MTN users news and results from the Rugby World Cup via their cellular phone.

The SMS service is part of the Rugby World Cup site, www.rugbyworld.co.za, which is jointly run by information group I-Net Bridge and the Sunday Times, South Africa`s largest circulating newspaper.

The website features news, history, e-mail round-up`s and columnists ranging from Nick Mallett and Joost v/d Westhuizen to the Sunday Times`s top-rated reporting duo of Dan Retief and Clinton van den Bergh. The latest offering is the ability to receive game alerts, half-time and full-time scores as well as news flashes via a cellphone.

This is currently only offered to MTN users and the first 5000 international users.

This is the second joint venture between I-Net Bridge and MTN. Last month MTN users were offered the ability to receive SMS reminders via their cellphone.

The reminders - ranging from birthdays, anniversaries and other personal happenings to public holidays and key business, sporting or political events - are updated by I-Net Bridge`s news team. The reminders function can be found at www.mtn.co.za.

MTN, I-Net Bridge and the Sunday Times are companies operating in the Johnnic stable.
