MTN has completed a technical deployment of its BlackBerry Wireless Solution at law firm Webber Wentzel Bowens (WWB).

The mobile operator says the BlackBerry solution will enable WWB employees to remain wirelessly connected to their data network at all times, irrespective of their location.

When it first announced BlackBerry, MTN claimed that it would increase the productivity of SA`s knowledge workers by extending time-sensitive information such as e-mail, calendar, contact and task information to the mobile workforce via MTN`s GPRS network.

The solution promises to enable corporates to keep a tight control of their budgets, thanks to a fixed threshold-based GPRS and subscription pricing model.

"It also provides the IT department with the ability to centralise administration and control, remotely enforce company IT security policies, remotely scrub sensitive information on stolen or lost devices and offer on-site and telephonic technical support," says an MTN spokesman.

Murray Thompson, GM at Webber Wentzel Bowens says the law firm`s staff need to be constantly connected to the firm`s data network in order to provide its clients with a world class business and legal consultancy.

"BlackBerry will provide our consultants that are out of the office wireless access to e-mail and corporate data, as well as allowing them to make important, time sensitive decisions on the fly."
