DataPro`s VOIP targeted at hospitality industry

Johannesburg, 06 Apr 2005

"We firmly believe the hospitality industry will benefit from the cost savings benefits of VOIP," said Martin Kuhlmann, Product Manager: Hospitality Solutions at DataPro Group.

"The South African hospitality industry is a core focus area in our VOIP strategy for 2005," said Kuhlmann.

This year will see AltX-listed telecommunications company, DataPro Group, focus more keenly on the hospitality industry, a market it believes can take advantage of the deregulation of the telecommunications industry, especially by harnessing the benefits of wireless technology and the now-legalised VOIP.

"Our aim is to become a key strategic player in the provision of digital telecommunications services to this sector. This will include the provisioning of telephone and data services, specifically tailored to the needs of this sector.

"With the rapid convergence of voice and data technology and with the `big bang` deregulation of the telecommunications industry, many hotels will investigate how to take advantage of the many business benefits that can be afforded by VOIP, in a move to elevate their levels of customer service and satisfaction. These days merely offering a good telephone service, including special features such as voicemail, is a given. But added extras, such as high-speed Internet access on tap and overall wireless communication capabilities will clearly provide a meaningful competitive-edge."

It will also create an environment to stimulate the idea of "intelligent" hotels, thus formalising efficiency, providing better service and increasing their bottom line.

As part of DataPro`s initiative to capture significant market share within the hospitality industry, it has already formed alliances with companies such as TTS (Telcall Television Services), which provides in-room infotainment systems for major hotels.

"We will also exhibit at the Indaba 2005. Here exhibitors and visitors will have the opportunity to see first hand how our range of voice and data solutions can not only improve their in-room Internet experience with our high-speed Internet access (HSIA) facilities, but also how hotels and accommodation providers can save substantially on their monthly phone bills.

"Hotels need to look at what is happening with technology around the globe and make sure they stay ahead of the pack by making sure their clientele - especially business travellers - have access to the latest technology. Naturally hotels must not lose sight of things such as traditional good service, tasteful surrounding and ambiance, but they need to keep an eye on technology and leverage off it to enhance the overall customer experience."
