ICT experts to tackle three convergence topics at SATNAC


Johannesburg, 30 Aug 2005

The convergence of services, networks and broadband will be the focal points of discussion at the Southern African Telecommunications Network and Applications Conference (SATNAC 2005) in the Drakensberg from 12 to 14 September 2005.

Science and technology minister Mosibudi Mangena will officially open the conference, which is annually hosted by Telkom, on 12 September 2005.

Claus Bjoernsten, Director of Service Provider Marketing at Intel Corporation, will be joined by panellists from Telkom, Cisco and Alcatel Services Convergence to unpack what digital users can expect from services convergence.

Antti Kankunnen, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Tellabs Inc, will deliver the keynote address on the subject of network convergence.

Joining Kankunnen in a panel discussion will be expects from Siemens, Marconi and Grintek to look at the key enablers in achieving convergence.

Massimo Coronaro, Telecom Italia`s Technology Executive, will give a talk on broadband, "the connectivity lifeline in a converging environment", and elaborate on a few broadband initiatives in the developed world.

He will be joined by Telkom`s Chief Technical Officer Reuben September, among other industry expects.
