A boundary-less connection, code-named "one network" allows Celtel customers in the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to freely move across geographical borders without roaming call charges and paying to receive an incoming call.

Both prepaid and post paid Celtel customers will be able to use the service and make calls in all countries at local rates. The prepaid customers will top-up their accounts with airtime cards bought from their home networks, whether in Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda.

The one network service is automatically activated upon crossing the geographic boarders into the three countries with no prior registration or signing up required.

Speaking at the launch ceremony at Katch, the Sun Restaurant in Bugolobi, Uganda on Wednesday, Celtel`s MD Yesse Oenga said this was part of Celtel`s mission to make the lives of its customers better.

Yesse said the service will give more opportunities to Celtel customers through quick mobile telecommunication access at every corner in East Africa.

The chief commercial officer of Celtel International, Tito Alai, said the initiative will bring the people of East Africa closer together. "We are now offering a communications solution that fits the needs of our customers, breaking barriers and making life better for business."
