EMC introduces Smarts software

EMC has released Smarts VOIP Performance Manager and Smarts VOIP Performance Reporter solutions for managing VOIP and IP telephony environments, reports EFY Times.

The solutions deliver information on phone extensions, phone calls, voice quality, availability of the telephone service and interconnections to telecommunications providers.

The solutions also monitor call volumes, call quality and route patterns to ensure service levels are being met and offer performance and trend reporting.

VeriSilicon debuts platform

VeriSilicon has introduced VZ.VoiceHQ, which can be used to speed up the development of next-generation VOIP products, reports IQ Online.

Based on the ZSP400 processor, the VZ.VoiceHQ provides a turnkey platform that includes a go-to-market reference design and voice/call management software to speed up IP phone development

Developers can choose from a single DSP processor system, based on the ZSP400 architecture, to run all the necessary VOIP functions as well other network-layer and control software.

VOIP security is paramount

Small and medium enterprises who are thinking about using a VOIP network in their workplace have been reassured that system providers view VOIP security as paramount, reports Telappliant.

Recent reports have highlighted emerging problems which could allow unauthorised people to listen in on calls.

However, secure networks provider Enterasys Networks has said these problems are preventable by providers using existing security technologies.
