BMI-TechKnowledge (BMI-T) has released its 2008 communications technologies handbook.

The 16th edition of the communications technologies handbook offers insight into the telecoms market in Africa and the Middle East.

Titled "Telecoms in Africa - Emerging Telecoms Opportunity Powerhouse", the also looks at key telecoms areas, such as mobile and broadband markets.

Dennis Smit, MD of BMI-T, believes the handbook offers businesses valuable information. "The handbook has a detailed country analysis on the telecoms landscape, markets and regulatory frameworks of each country in Africa. This will give operators, who want to go into those countries, the essential information they would need."

Smit also notes a key trend which emerges from the information listed in the handbook. "What we are seeing is an explosion of the African market. There are so many companies, such as Vodafone, expanding or establishing their footprint. It is because Africa has become the key market in the world."
