eXactmobile users will now be able to pay for their purchases virtually. In a partnership with MiMoney - a Standard Bank initiative - users of the mobile entertainment portal can pay for digital content electronically.

eXactmobile CEO Davin Mole says the partnership with MiMoney will enhance the company's offerings.

“We view MiMoney as an enhancement to our current offering. We have developed eXactmobile to a point where we have a top content offering in SA. We have over 800 000 live full tracks on offer. We're very pleased to offer MiMoney as an alternate payment method on eXactmobile.”

MiMoney is an electronic payment voucher that can be purchased through self-banking channels such as Internet, mobile and telephone banking, or from sales agents. It enables users without credit cards to transact online and users do not incur any additional charges from MiMoney in the purchase or use of the voucher.

MiMoney is not exclusive to a specific bank or service provider, and users can purchase vouchers in any denomination for amounts of up to R1 000. Users are asked to provide their cellphone numbers in the beneficiary reference field and once that transaction has been completed, an 18-digit voucher number is delivered to the specified cellphone number.

Ryan Birkin, interactive director at eXactmobile, says users will pay R9.99 per full music single track. Previously, with network operator billing, users paid a download price of R20 per track.

Birkin says the offering, along with the price reduction, was aimed at younger users - the sub-25 market - which didn't have access to credit cards.

Along with music tracks, users will also be able to download and use the electronic payment solution for Java games - which are full mobile games

Mole adds the partnership will be a success, as it results in the lowering of costs for the consumer and is only the beginning of future plans.

“Key to our plans is the flexibility and security of our billing and payment mechanisms. We will be launching a new service this year, designed specifically for music fans.

“The site will offer our full database of over one million tracks, available on both mobile and PC downloads, album sales and information on the artist. We've been developing our new sites for almost two years, and MiMoney will be a key partner of this new initiative.”
