Ericsson has signed a contract with Telenor Sweden for Ericsson's Business Communication Suite. The telco giant will be responsible for the expansion, upgrade and systems integration of Telenor's Information Management System (IMS) network.

Lars-Ake Norling, CEO of Telenor Sweden, says: "Ericsson's Business Communication Suite solution opens up new and exciting opportunities in the enterprise area and will enable new ways of mobile working for our business customers, giving them the choice between integrated fixed and mobile telephony and customised solutions”.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will be the prime integrator of the IMS system, including systems-integration services. The main focus will be on mobile applications for enterprises. The delivery and integration phase of the BCS and the extended IMS-based network has already begun.

According to Ericsson, the business communication suite is the first service of its kind to be based on IMS. It is a communication tool that enables mobile, unified communication for business users and increases efficiency with social networking tools, such as presence, messaging, chat, video, incoming call management, file sharing and corporate directory. It can be used to communicate both with colleagues and other business associates.

Mikael B"ackstr"om, president of Ericsson Nordic and Baltics, says: "We are pleased to support Telenor in such a strategically important step. This agreement reaffirms Ericsson's strong commitment and capabilities in the IMS area and our ability to deliver innovative solutions such as the Business Communication Suite."
