News24's in-house developed application for iPhone and iPod touch users is now available for download from the Apple iTunes application store.

The application allows iPhone and iPod touch users to receive news and share it with friends, while also featuring e-mail and feedback features to submit comments, photos and news tips to News24.

Stefano Sessa, product marketing specialist for mobile at 24.com, says: “It took us about three to four months, from registering as a third-party application developer to getting the application on the Apple iTunes site.”

The free application offers users news of the day in the form of photos with captions, which are byte-sized and quick and easy to digest.

Geoff Cohen, GM of News24, says: “It is ideal for on-the-go South Africans looking for a quick and simple way to remain up-to-date on news, sports and the markets.”

Users will get access to content from News24, Channel24, Sport24, Fin24 and Wheels24. Cohen adds that consumers can look forward to more mobile utilities and services from across the 24.com family of brands in the not too distant future.

“The application is downloadable from Apple iTunes store across the world and not just available to South Africans,” says Sessa.

To get the free application, click here, or visit the Apple iTunes store and search for News24.
