Samantha Perry

co-founder of WomeninTechZA

Samantha is the owner and founder of SJ Perry PR, a small, independent agency that specialises in providing public relations, media relations and content creation services to small to medium-sized businesses and agencies.

She has 20-odd years’ experience as a journalist and a PR professional, and holds a Masters degree in ICT Policy & Regulation from the University of the Witwatersrand.

As a journalist, Samantha covered the ICT sector for the likes of Computing SA (editor), ComputerWeek, and Brainstorm magazine (editor).

In her capacity as a PR professional and consultant, she has worked with a variety of companies including: Google South Africa, Google Nigeria, Think with Google SSA, Salesforce, Paymenow, Coindirect, VALR, Revix, OfferZen, Euphoria Telecom, Peach Payments, CLEVVA, Paypal, eSquared, KAC Group, the British Council, Wunderman Thompson, BasedAF, and Root Platform.

Samantha co-founded and run an initiative called WomeninTechZA, which aims to bridge the gender diversity gap in the tech sector, and in that capacity she sat on the UN Office for South South Cooperation Women in Tech program secretariat. She is also a previous judge of the GSMA GLOMO Awards and has spoken at a variety of prestigious events over the years as well as commenting on telecoms and tech issues in the media.
