Deepesh Thomas is a qualified Chartered Accountant and MBA graduate from the University of Cape Town. He started his career in audit, later moving to management consulting and later specialising in insurance where he was part of the core team that founded the Liberty Short-Term Insurance business.

Deepesh currently serves as the Executive Head of Digital for Standard Bank Wealth, where he manages a team of 90 IT and operations individuals to drive and execute digital and cloud strategy across short-term insurance, life insurance, investments and fiduciary in South Africa, Rest of Africa and Wealth International. His passion lies in applying bleeding-edge technology to complex business challenges and customer pain points.

Deepesh's key achievements include leading the strategy development for the Liberty Short-term business in his capacity as a Management Consultant, executing on the strategy and commercialising the business in his capacity as the CEO of the Liberty Short-term COE and leading the development of a cloud-native short-term insurance technology stack built on Microsoft Azure.
