Willem has spent his career dismantling the gap between IT strategy and real business outcomes.
His leadership philosophy is simple and uncompromising: if the customer didn't win, you didn't win. He has built a reputation for exposing vanity metrics, optimising business units for genuine impact, and insisting that delivery must be client-centric at every level of the organisation.
Willem believes that Agentic AI unlocks transformative value only when organisations lead with trust, transparency, and human oversight top down and bottom up. He equally challenges the notion of an IT skills shortage, arguing instead that leadership teams must be measured on their ability to develop and move talent through the organisation and not simply hire around the problem.
