Omar is a Senior Security Researcher at Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT), Middle East Unit. His work focuses on tracking and analysing advanced persistent threats (APTs), with core interests in reverse engineering, detection engineering, threat hunting, and research into N-day vulnerabilities. With a strong background in offensive security, Omar brings deep insight into attacker tradecraft and defensive countermeasures, while continuously exploring innovative approaches for hunting advanced threats. In his recent work, Omar has investigated sub-clusters of the Lazarus Group, including BlueNoroff (APT38), uncovering two highly targeted and sophisticated campaigns aimed at Web3 developers and investors for financial gain. He has also researched MuddyWater and OilRig cyber espionage campaigns in the Middle East region, uncovering their tactics, malware, and operational patterns.
