Nomonde is a distinguished, multi-award-winning executive currently serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Group Compliance at Absa Bank. Prior to this, she was CIO of Bidvest Bank, where she was celebrated as the 2023 Top Performer, acknowledging her pivotal contributions to the bank’s transformative turnaround. Before joining Bidvest Bank, Nomonde held several prominent leadership positions within the Absa Group’s Technology Executive team. Her roles included Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance for Absa’s Information Technology Office, Joint CIO for Infrastructure Services, and Head of Technology for Absa Regional Operations (formerly Barclays Africa Regional Management). Nomonde’s technology career began at UCS Solutions and evolved through various multinational organisations, including British American Tobacco, where she honed her expertise in IT leadership and innovation. Beyond her corporate achievements, Nomonde is a passionate advocate for gender parity in technology. As Chairperson of Wired4Women, a technology advisory board dedicated to advancing women in the industry, she champions the empowerment and recognition of women, driving meaningful change at both organisational and industry levels. Nomonde’s commitment to excellence has earned her numerous accolades. In 2024, she received several prestigious awards at the CIO South Africa Awards, widely regarded as the Oscars of the country’s IT sector. She was also named the Visionary Chief Information Officer of the Year by the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA), and secured the following awards: High Performance Team – Overall Winner, and Young Chief Information Officer of the Year – Overall Winner. In recognition of her leadership, academic excellence and community involvement, Nomonde was inducted as a Golden Key Honorary Member at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2022. The Golden Key International Honour Society, the world’s largest academic honour society, extended this rare acknowledgment to Nomonde as a paragon of integrity, collaboration, innovation, respect and excellence.
