In response to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) coming into force on 1 July 2020, IronTree has entered a channel partnership with POPIA365, a service that assists organisations to manage their compliance with the data privacy regulation.

POPIA365 is a comprehensive tool for demonstrating compliance, mapping personal and sensitive personal information, governance and communication to all stakeholders, managing data protection impact assessments and subject access requests, and reporting data breaches.
POPIA is South Africa’s equivalent of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), designed to protect data subjects’ personal information from security breaches, theft and discrimination, and to ensure the holders of the information only process it according to the permissions granted to them by the person whose information it is.
Organisations have 12 months in which to comply with the data privacy regulation, which can be difficult to understand and expensive to implement without the use of guiding technology. It also requires frequent reviewing to ensure organisations continue to be compliant. Knowing which systems need to be altered or implemented can be a complex task that requires knowledge of the regulation.
POPIA365 is a cloud-based service designed to make the ongoing compliance process as easy as possible for a broad base of organisations.
