In the world of school management systems, technology alone is never enough. What truly shapes a successful implementation is partnership – trust built over years, shared problem-solving and a common mission.
Rise SA Business Solutions' journey with TSIBA Business School and TSIBA Ignition Academy has been exactly that – a long-term collaboration that helped the company grow and expand its footprint across South Africa’s education sector.
Rise SA Business Solutions owes much of its progress in school management software development to TSIBA’s openness, professionalism and commitment to innovation.
Where it all began
In 2017, the company welcomed Achmat Kazie to Rise SA as Business Development Director. Kazie had previously worked at TSIBA as Financial Manager and brought deep expertise in NGO finance, accounting compliance and education administration.
For two years, Kazie worked with Rise SA's team, helping it strengthen its accounting and ERP capabilities. In 2019, he returned to TSIBA as Business Development director to support its transformation. That transition marked the beginning of a powerful collaboration.
From accounting migration to ERP transformation
In 2019, Rise SA led the migration of TSIBA from Pastel Partner to 1C:Drive – a cloud-based ERP system.
The project scope included:
- Full accounting and GL migration (historical data from 2017)
- Import and correction of over 7 000 fixed assets
- Management reporting
- Automated procurement and approval workflows
- Budget control by cost centre and business unit
- Batch invoicing and bank stream processing
The procurement automation was particularly advanced. Based on TSIBA’s internal authorisation matrix, the system dynamically routed approvals depending on budget availability, purchase amount, cost centre and role-based authorisation (budget owner, OPSCO, EXCO, finance, CEO).
This was more than software deployment – it was business process transformation.
School management beyond finance
While the ERP project strengthened financial governance, Rise SA's collaboration evolved further into learner data management and school operations automation.
Together with Karien Cloete and the TSIBA Ignition Academy team, Rise SA expanded functionality to include learner data structures, attendance workflows, Gmail and Google Calendar integrations, Google Classroom integration and custom reporting for finance and academic WCED departments.
Rise SA worked closely on aligning CRM, accounting and learner management flows, ensuring that the education ecosystem – from enrolment to reporting – could operate on connected data.
The real pain points in education management
Working side by side with TSIBA and later with private and public schools across South Africa, Rise SA consistently observed the same core challenges in education:
- Learner data fragmentation – Student information scattered across spreadsheets, e-mails, LMS systems and accounting platforms.
- Budget and procurement control – Complex approval structures with limited automation.
- Collection of outstanding fees – Manual invoicing and slow follow-ups.
- Communication with parents and stakeholders – Disconnected systems for e-mail, SMS, CRM and finance.
- Management reporting – Difficulty generating real-time reports by department, programme or income stream.
From one client to a sector focus
Because of this partnership, Rise SA expanded its focus into private schools, public schools, training academies, NGO education institutions and colleges across South Africa.
Today, Rise SA actively implements Rise School Management, a cloud-based school finance and administration management system built specifically for South African schools and colleges.
The platform supports learner administration and admissions to manage student records and enrolment processes; attendance tracking to monitor daily presence and identify absenteeism trends; academic marks management to capture results and generate progress reports; and behaviour management to record disciplinary and positive conduct events.
In addition, it includes flexible fee billing and collections to streamline school finances, as well as an integrated communication tool, the Rise School Communicator mobile app, to keep parents, teachers and administrators connected – all within one secure and unified system.
