Ureka Rangasamy is the Chief Audit Executive at Eskom, and unlike many other organisations (whose internal audit functions focus predominantly on finance related matters) Ureka leads a multidisciplinary audit function. As a seasoned executive with decades of experience she is well suited to the task, having honed her experiences over the years within internal auditing, information security and governance, risk management, continuous improvement and the leadership of the Internal Audit Department. However, as much as Ureka is quintessentially associated with internal auditing, it may come as a surprise to learn that she did not begin her career within this field. Ureka started her career at Eskom in 1995 as an IT Programmer. She later progressed to a Senior Systems Analyst and in 2001 left Eskom to join Arivia.com as an IT Project Manager. She returned to Eskom in 2002, and since then has diligently progressed through the ranks from an IT Audit Manager and later to a Senior Manager: Auditing. While in this role she served as the Acting General Manager: Internal Audit, and was later successfully appointed in the position.
