Sabinet's roots are in library support services, where we are recognised for providing central platforms for collaboration and resource sharing among libraries. Our appointment as the Sub-Saharan distributor of OCLC products in 1995 enabled us to bring world-class products to South Africa, which are relevant to African libraries and allowed us to further enhance our innovative and customised offering.
Products and Services
Sabinet's library services, which include cataloguing, interlending and reference services are used extensively by academic, public, government and corporate libraries within South Africa and across the African continent. We believe in working together with libraries in order to best understand their needs, and this enables us to deliver services that best serve them.
Sabinet offers online journals originating from or pertaining to Africa. The Sabinet African ePublications (SA ePublications) service has been available online to clients with great success since 2001. This service is the most comprehensive, searchable collection of full-text African electronic journals available on one platform which focuses on information originating from or pertaining to Africa.Now including the African Journal Archive, SA ePublications offers almost 500 African journals, a number that grows consistently as new journal titles are added. SA ePublications is not only the largest collection of its kind, but also easy to use since the platform was designed with the end user in mind.
Sabinet has in addition, built a solid reputation as a provider of both library and digital collection management systems, providing both implementation and support services of these systems. Thanks to the expertise we have built up through the execution of our own digitisation projects, we are also able to provide specialised digitisation services to organisations that require assistance with the preservation of their documents.
Recognising the high demand for access to timeous, accurate and credible information, Sabinet has furthermore entrenched itself as a partner in the legal community, providing a full spectrum of legal information products and services - from Bill tracking to Gazettes and Municipal By-laws.
