HP pilots Smarts Leads in SA

SA is the third country in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region to pilot HP`s Smart Leads, a module that forms part of its partner sales and marketing online resource, Smart Portal.

Smart Portal was designed by HP to aid its partners and resellers in delivering services to clients, explains Theirry Boulanger, commercial and enterprise channel manager at HP SA.

Smart Leads, the latest module to form part of the Smart Portal, will join the five existing modules: Smart Product Catalog, Smart Sales, Smart Quote, Smart Choice and Smart Learning, he says.

A demonstration held at HP`s Rivonia offices illustrated a training and certification section for resellers to learn more about products, services and general sales strategies. "We have 25 000 registered students," says Boulanger.

"We launched the Smart Leads pilot on the first of August," explains Kim Petersen, channel marketing manager in SA. "Since then we have generated $80 000 worth of leads with 50% already turned into sales."

"Smart Portal has been a huge part of our long term strategy - as far back as our merger with Compaq," explains Sean Gallager, director of preferred partner sales.
