The changing business analyst

Cape Town, 07 Oct 2016

After some extensive market research and in response to requests from numerous clients, Faculty Training Institute has re-imagined and re-launched its well-respected short course, the Principles of Business Analysis (PBA).

This particular course has primarily been offered only as an in-house option over the last few years, as FTI has been running another short three-day BA programme under licence from Watermark Learning. Due to popular demand, though, the newly updated and certified PBA is back.

The Principles of Business Analysis course is a four-day short course, with two days being spent on business case activities and two days on requirement specification activities. If requested, these four days can be split into two modules, so people don't have to spend four consecutive days out of the office.

This course focuses on business analysis methodology, tools and techniques and provides a solid and comprehensive overview of the role of the business analyst and the business analysis process. It is suitable for those who have no business analysis experience but need to know the processes, shared language and the fundamentals of the field, as well as those who have some BA experience but may be in need of a more formal approach. Typical delegates would include entry-level business or systems analysts, users and project sponsors, project managers, contractors, IT and management consultants as well as IT and business people who need to understand the business analysis and requirements definition process.

The PBA is now accredited with the MICT Seta and is competitively priced at around the same as the previous three-day programme.

The PBA course develops awareness and understanding, but not mastery, of all the topics. It is recommended that delegates who require mastery of the various topics elect to attend the more comprehensive Certificate Programme in Business Analysis or the Advanced Business Analysis Programme (AdBA), which also confers the Seta National Certificate in Business Analysis qualification.
