Africa's fintech event will be hosted on 25 and 26 September in Stellenbosch.

The second edition of the African Fintech Unconference (AFU) will take place at the Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch on 25 and 26 September.

Introduced last year, the conference seeks to bring together a curated group of professionals from the global fintech sector to discuss key opportunities and challenges for fintech in Africa.

This year's AFU will be co-convened by African fintech companies Nomanini, MFS Africa and Tugende, and like in 2017, the conference agenda will be guided by fintech innovators, thought leaders and entrepreneurs, says a statement.

"The fast-moving and highly disruptive African fintech landscape is ripe for consolidation, and AFU18 will provide an important platform for discussion and information sharing, with the ultimate goal of boosting collaborative fintech partnerships across the continent," explains Vahid Monadjem, CEO of Nomanini.

Dare Okoudjou, founder and CEO of MFS Africa, adds: "We are delighted to be a part of the second annual African Fintech Unconference, as it provides an unparalleled platform for discussion at a time when trusted partnerships are key to creating a healthy ecosystem for Africa's fintech innovators."

According to the statement, last year's event attracted 90 participants from around the globe, with attendees including innovators, financial services providers, MNOs, financial sector authorities and investors, among others.

"Given that the fintech landscape is still an emerging one, with many new players vying for attention, it is important to promote dialogue and create transparent, long-lasting relationships," notes Michael Wilkerson, founder and CEO of Tugende.

"This is precisely why we believe AFU18 is such an important event for the industry, and we encourage all stakeholders to attend."
