Trustlink, pioneer in business-to-business process optimisation and the leading SWIFT service bureau in Africa, has appointed software and solution sales industry specialist Bertus Homan to the position of Executive Manager: Sales, effective 8 March 2013. Homan will be tasked with growing the sales team at Trustlink, meeting sales targets, and aligning sales with business objectives and customer requirements going forward.
"Obviously meeting and exceeding targets is an important part of my new role. However, in order to grow sales in the long term, I will also be concentrating on mentoring and training Trustlink's sales team to take the company from a traditional product focus to a solution focus. I will also be working to build stronger relationships with customers, managing processes and people within my team, and ensuring my team stays happy and motivated," says Homan.
Homan has more than two decades' experience in the technology sales industry, with an impressive track record of success and a broad experience base. He began his career in 1975 as an IBM Systems Programmer at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange before moving into the sales arena, and has also worked as a technical consultant for many years, giving him a technical background that has stood him in good stead in his chosen field.
He has also held positions at notable organisations including SAS Institute as the General Manager for Public Security, IBM as the Sales Leader for Commerce Solutions, and Sterling Commerce as Partner Manager. From software and pre-sales support to direct sales, sales management and team leadership, as well as starting up and leading new sales divisions, Homan's experience runs the gamut, and he brings these skills to bear in his new position at Trustlink.
He has also worked with Trustlink since 2006 in his previous role, and has built an existing relationship with and solid understanding of the company as well as its partners, notably IBM and SWIFT. Aside from growing, coaching and mentoring the sales team, Homan will also be looking to identify and verify Trustlink's target market, and aligning the company's message to its customers' needs and requirements. He will be working to further entrench the Trustlink brand, focusing marketing efforts in line with sales goals and objectives and ensuring the sales team works as a cohesive unit.
"With his proven sales and sales management skills and excellent track record, as well as proven business background gained through setting up and growing business units, extensive experience closing and negotiating large deals, large account management skills, global experience in partner enablement and management, as well as his background in successfully managing people, Homan was the ideal candidate for the position. We are looking forward to working with him and seeing our sales grow from strength to strength," says Tertius Vermeulen, CEO of Trustlink.
"My ultimate goal is to increase our market share and to grow the business, and all of these various aspects work towards achieving this aim. I may be new to the company, but I am not new to the business, and I believe that, working together, we can establish Trustlink's position as number one in their market in our niche, and work towards making it one of the most admired companies in South Africa," Homan concludes.
