Gartner recognises Websense as a leader in latest Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateways

Websense continues leadership position for four consecutive years after independent security analysis.

San Diego, 09 Jul 2013

Websense (NASDAQ: WBSN), a global leader in protecting organisations from the latest cyber attacks and data theft, today announced Gartner has positioned Websense as a leader in its "Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateways" [1] for the fourth consecutive year.

"Websense is more than just my choice for proven Web security," said Lee Sullivan, technical lead: The Co-operative Group. "It is my trusted advanced threat protection partner that helps prevent targeted attacks and data theft. Websense TRITON solutions provide an effective way to manage our most advanced security defences and report on our risk profile. I've done my due diligence and vetted other solutions. Hands down, Websense stops more threats."

Leaders in the Magic Quadrant are high-momentum vendors (based on sales and mind share growth) with established track records in Web gateway security, as well as vision and business investments, indicating that they are well positioned for the future.

Gartner's evaluation included Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere (WSGA) solution. WSGA is a module of the TRITON solution architecture that unifies Web, e-mail, data and mobile security. Leaders' evaluation was based on "completeness of vision" and "ability to execute".

"Organisations worldwide need advanced threat protection that shields them from the constant onslaught of threats and data-theft attempts," said John McCormack, Websense CEO. "The ability to compete in today's global market is directly linked to the ability to secure intellectual property from loss. We believe our continued security leadership recognition from Gartner provides yet another independent validation of the tremendous Websense TRITON security expertise and effectiveness."

Websense WSGA is a module of the TRITON unified architecture that also supports Websense Data Security Suite (recognised six consecutive years as a leader in the "Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention (DLP)". The TRITON architecture radically changes the gateway security landscape with unprecedented advanced malware and data-theft defences, spear-phishing protection, cloud malware sandboxing, and a detailed and actionable forensic reporting dashboard.
