Cape Town-based and London-listed mobile information company iTouch has acquired 100% of Australian Palm-based application provider Holliday for an undisclosed sum.

ITouch says the acquisition will provide it with additional mobile office solutions as well as a software development team located strategically in Christchurch, New Zealand, giving it access to one of the world`s first national operating GPRS (general packet switch system) networks and allowing it to benefit from New Zealand`s low cost structure.

Ivan Fallon, iTouch chairman, says: "The acquisition enhances the rapidly growing corporate side of iTouch. The addition of Holliday enables iTouch to develop, implement and support full end-to-end mobile office solutions for business, corporate and customers."

Sean Stegmann, MD of iTouch SA says the acquisition is good news for iTouch in SA as the applications Holliday offers will help fast-track the development of mobile business solutions.

"There has been limited mobile information applications available in SA to date, but the acquisition of the Holliday Group with its sophisticated communications module will allow us to integrate applications across various forms of radio communication - for example radio trunks, GSM and the like," says Stegmann.

iTouch`s mobile offerings to consumers comprise content and commerce services. Its corporate services allow corporate clients to communicate with their mobile customers and employees on an individual or group basis. iTouch delivers its services through IVR (interactive voice response), SMS and WAP.
