Maxtec has announced the resignation of Graham Hayes as group MD. His responsibilities included the management of Maxtec subsidiary, Enterprise Storage Solutions.

In future, Hayes will pursue emerging business opportunities in the storage market.

"After two years of overseeing the streamlining of our operations, and improving in-house business methodologies, we will continue to work with Hayes in the broader marketplace," says Maxtec executive chairman, George Talbot.

"His valuable business and experience in the storage solutions arena will ensure his success as business partner in association with the Maxtec group." Hayes intends to specialise in storage solutions for the sector, explains Talbot.

Maxtec does not intend to replace Hayes, and Talbot will fulfil the role of group MD.

"We have a strong set-up with strong people and the load has been spread, so I don`t see the need to replace Hayes," says Talbot.

Commenting on the Maxtec share price which took a serious knock yesterday, falling to 12c, Talbot says there is no way the local market will escape the carnage experienced internationally. He adds that local investors and shareholders will have to be realistic about the possibility that things could get worse.

As part of the company`s restructuring process, Cape-based Tony Strutt will join the Johannesburg team as MD of Maxtec Peripherals. Strutt takes over from Perry Hutton, who as the new chief operating officer will focus on the day-to-day operations across all subsidiaries, as well as the contractual and logistical areas.
